In classic Trump fashion, a new nickname has been created for the so-called journalist over at the New York Times. Trump is blaming Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim for some damaging stories that accuse him of sexual assault in the Times.
Read about it at The Hill.com:
This week, the New York newspaper published an account from two women who accused Trump of groping and kissing them without their consent, and the Republican presidential nominee laid the report at Slim’s feet.
“The largest shareholder in the Times is Carlos Slim. Now Carlos Slim, as you know, comes from Mexico. He’s given many millions of dollars to the Clintons and their initiative,” Trump said during a rally in Greensboro, N.C.
“Reporters at The New York Times — they are not journalists — they are corporate lobbyists for Carlos Slim and Hillary Clinton. … We just can’t do this. We can’t let this happen. We are not going to let it happen where they decide the outcome of our elections,” he continued.
Corporate lobbyist! That’s a heck of a lot more accurate than the term journalist. The overarching problem in media is not just that it’s biased, but that it’s become hyper-partisan. If you haven’t noticed already, this website has a conservative/libertarian lean to it. We carry one side of the news and liberal websites carry the other, but when you put the two halves together you don’t get a whole.
Television hosts Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow are classic examples of the hyper-partisan political hacks that have taken over the media. Neither has a shred of intellectual honesty. Hannity ignored Trump’s many glaring faults (and liberal record) just as Maddow ignored Obama’s. When Donald Trump gets accused of doing the exact same thing as Bill Clinton the partisans simply switch sides and steal each-others rhetoric. Meanwhile, the crooks in Congress run wild.
The only way to stop the insanity is to have intellectually honest media outlets. The goods news is that their actually are a few such websites (The Daily Caller, Red State, or National Review), but the bad news is that those websites frequently come under attack by partisans (like Sean Hannity) who can’t stand anyone who doesn’t tow the party line. Trump is right though, the media is full of corporate lobbyist. Journalism is dead.
