Rand Paul Comes in 5th in Iowa, Then Makes Shocking Announcement

Rand Paul

Rand Paul came in fifth place in Monday night’s Iowa caucus behind GOP contenders Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Ben Carson.

Then on Wednesday, just two days after the Iowa caucus, Paul announced that he was suspending his campaign:

“It’s been an incredible honor to run a principled campaign for the White House,” Paul said in a statement. “Today, I will end where I began, ready and willing to fight for the cause of Liberty.”

“Across the country thousands upon thousands of young people flocked to our message of limited government, privacy, criminal justice reform and a reasonable foreign policy,” he said. “Brushfires of Liberty were ignited, and those will carry on, as will I.

Unless something big changes in the next couple of months, it appears that the fight for the nomination will ultimately be between Cruz, Trump, and Rubio.
